So with the US/AA merger happening I was thinking its a good time to burn so DM Miles & take a trip home to see the family in AKL.

Normally its pretty easy to get NZ award space in I from PER-AKL & return usually 4 in the week days & maybe 1 around Fri / Sat / Sun, but when I'm looking now & I'm not really picky - any week in winter will work, there is nothing. Has NZ chosen to 0 out he award space?

Hope not, was planning to go to the pacific islands or NZ with one of these awards.....

Anyone else got some insight into this? I had a look and I can't see any availability on ANA or United anymore.

Well that sucks!!!

But if not ANA does it mean ANZ has pulled it from all, or most, *A rather than jus USDM again losing access to certain seats??

You know how you sometimes hear that there are obscure airports in Asia that only Lufthansa or Turkish airlines fly to and you can fly to them via Europe with miles charged for Asia, i don't suppose that USDM would allow you to fly business class to some of these Pacific Islands from Perth via Asia if NZ have pulled all J class redemptions???

Thanks everyone for the follow up.

I would be very interested if anyone was able to do as Casanovawa suggested.

Actually, everything for NZ Trans Tasman has been pulled. No idea why but it could mean change is coming?!

Very interesting.

My wife and I and my daughter have flown SYD-AKL and back a couple of times recently, and the flights were not nearly full, so it would appear that NZ is playing games.

I guess we will have to wait and see how it turns out.

I don't know of any *A member airline other than NZ that flies to the Pacific Islands.

SkyTeam has Korean flying to NAN.

Anyone else noticed that it appears economy awards have now disappeared as well?

Maybe I was doing something stupid. But I couldn't see any on united's site the other day. Will look again tonight.
