Hi,

I have a lot of Singapore miles through my credit card but no status with them. I was intending to use them for a J return BNE to LHR but found virtually all the saver J fares were down as "wait list only" so I've ended up using half my miles on a return to Bangkok in J instead.

My question is if I had silver or gold status with the airline would I see more flight availability on the booking page or is this not a factor?

Thanks

With SQ status the award availability you see online would be very similar, if not identical, to what a non status PAX sees. But the difference is when you do decide to commit to the waitlist, then there's a higher chance of the waitlist clearing quicker than a non status PAX. Generally speaking, the 'status' I'm implying here is PPS Club or atleast KF Gold.

If your miles are already with KF, then your best bet is to have the flight to LHR waitlisted then calling SQ to see if they are willing to clear it for you. Note that booking the full trip on 1 ticket is a lot cheaper (miles wise) than booking BNE-SIN and SIN-LHR legs as separate tickets so this is something you should consider as well.

Thanks very much, that all makes sense.

I'm going to use the miles for holidays in Asia rather than mess around with wait lists.

I became frustrated by attempts to book a Euro return on SQ so much so that I ended up booking on MH instead and saved a great many points in the process. My experience has been that having status makes no difference to award availability.

FWIW SQ are offering bonus points atm for flights booked to to various Asian destinations.

I feel your pain. That's why I credit to Enrich as much as I can now because I know I'll never have problems redeeming J flights with them and they are a lot cheaper than SQ or QF.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
