I made an award booking from MEL - LAX return a while ago for a trip in mid April this year. To fully enjoy the trip, the whole route is a bit fun which consists
QF MEL-LAX (stay LAX)
JL LAX-NRT-TPE (stay TPE)
CI TPE-MEL

The booking was made before coronavirus became a thing, and now thanks to the cruise ship and other factors in Japan, I am starting to worry about whether it's still OK to transit in Japan.
All flights is booked on a single ticket, which I thought would be handier if I want to cancel them all will cost only 6000 points (I might be wrong though).

Let's say if things getting deteriorated in JP, can I only cancel the leg between LAX and TPE, and somehow book another flight between LAX and TPE in other means, while keeping both the first and last leg of my itinerary? (I do wanna try out the A350 J on CI).

I know I can get answers from QF support, but their call centre is extremely hard to get through, so would love to get some idea from here.

P.S: I'm on Australian passport but with birth place of WUHAN, so I imagine it will a lot of more fun to get questioned at many borders.

Award availability LAX-TPE pending, should be no problem, with an adj to $ (up or down) and a 5k pts change fee
