Avoid 24J PE seat on QF A380 unless you really need the legroom

I recently scored a points upgrade from Y -> PE. Was given 24J. I should have changed it!
In case anyone is considering this seat (and its partner 24B)
The good thing about the seat is the huge leg room. But I didn't need that.
The bad things about the seat are:
- Absolutely zero personal storage. No where to put even the menu,a pair of glasses, headphones or the bottle of water (both of which disappeared). No seat pocket or equivalent at all.
- Three people stood on my feet during the flight (one oaf did this twice) as they tended to exit the curtain to the side instead of at the aisle.
- A number of people staring through the curtain from business class

you really need to stake your claim when in this kind of bulkhead seating - your carry-on bag can be used well for this purpose sometimes :)

Agree - but I usually take a largish but soft carry on bag (rather than a carry on suitcase because in J upper deck seating it means I can stuff it into the side bins for easy access). Lesson learnt. :)

White Socks (or footware) to start with.

Then, I got quite used to Exit seats on long haul (until Qantas started charging for them) and would bring with m a day pack or small backpack to put on the floor under/near my feet (after take off). Into this would go the bit and pices I needed access to for the flight.

When this happens I find a trip to the curtain, a stern look and a firm 'curtain-close' procedure works well. PEY is not entertainment for J class!

... A number of people staring through the curtain from business class ...

Sounds awful. I can't imagine what the attraction would be. Unless their IFE was down. ;)

Maybe I misunderstood seating as 24j is next to 24k. I would have gladly swapped you 25j as on my recent LHR-SYD, it was impossible for me to get out of my seat when 24j was reclined. I had to climb over arm rest. I choose not to hold on the back of front seat to exit, which helps a bit with exiting seat. Great push to continue my weight loss. I too have small bag at feet with things I will require for easy access.

Yes 24J is next to 24K - I mean 24b is is the same type of seat (with no storage and the problems mentioned) as 24J. In my opinion 24 A and K would be great because you have plenty of room to get up, don't get stepped on and they have side storage. Also 24 D and F would be good.

Yes in all of these seats there is no one in front to recline their seat, although that doesn't really bother me on long haul because everyone needs to get some rest.

I have the same issues in QF premium economy. Too much recline in those seats and ruins my flight.

Many years ago we had free choice of premium economy seats with economy service and dad and I travelled to the USA in premium economy seats. He could not get out from his window seat. Luckily person in front did not recline for the remainder of flight.

I am now weary of any non-bulkhead seat. I prefer exit row where possible and don't care who congregates in the exit row. No one has ever stepped on my feet and I don't need to wear fluoro socks.
