Hiya,
Brief context:
  • I have the Amex Elevate card
  • Don't accumulate a ton of points
  • Based in Perth
  • Pre-covid was traveling domestically say 3x a year and internationally (Asia) 1-2x a year, often on points
  • In future, might instead focus on less dom/asia travel and build points toward a family trip to Europe
Question!
My Amex is currently set to auto-transfer to QFF. Is this for suckers?? 😊 Are there any strong advantages, compared to accumulating as Amex points and then being able to transfer to a range of programs? Any notable disadvantages to the latter?

Many thanks in advance for any comments.

I don't know much about the Elevate card but the Platinum Charge is the only mainstream one that can convert to QF (and often with a bonus) unless by auto-transfer with a QF-named card
However Amex MR points can convert to VA, CX, SQ, QR, EK, EY (and other programmes via Marriott). Offers flexibility and potentially reducing taxes
Depends on the earn rate in comparison-MR points are mostly 0.5 of an airline point
