spend over $50 in one transaction at **** Smith stores [Excluding franchisee and reseller stores]).

Interesting censorship.

I assume **** Smith = Richard Smith? If so, I can't understand why Australia's dominant retailer uses a highly visible brand name that is banned. That, or AFF has gone overboard. If the latter, can the operators of AFF please explain? As a woman, I find nothing offensive here.

Quite a few people have mentioned this now, but no reprisal yet...

SIA1A,

A question that could/should be better directed via PM to admin IMHO.

Bill,

I have no idea what you are talking about with your one-line tech-speak. PM, admin (in bold) and IMHO, all within 4 'words'? Sorry, I don't understand at all.

I don't redirect my comments to anyone. They go here as they stand and I expect them to be taken as read. Nothing under the carpet here. If you or anyone else feel that action needs to be taken, then do it. Otherwise, hold your fire. I have no interest in advising anyone about how to run AFF. However, I will interject when simple names that are widely used in the English speaking world get struck out by someone's thought police. That's silly and indefensible.

I also have a problem with people that like to turn a simple comment such as this into an administrative hive-off.

Take me at face value. I'm a simple gal.

If you have a question about the policies of the board send a (P)ersonal (M)essage to the (ADMIN)istrator of the board ;)

2 out of 3 ain't bad. What does he mean by IMHO?

Who is the (ADMIN)istrator?

For the record, I have no question to ask this person anyway.

While I totally 200% agree that censoring Tricky ****y is a bit much, or even Richard Johnson that famous queenslander.
It also only took me about 45 seconds to think of a sentence that might possibly be considered offensive. That's the trouble with machines, they can't do context. ;)

IMHO = in my humble opinion.

admin is the Administrator's nickname on AFF.

SIA1A,

I'll answer again sorry.

What I was trying to say was that I cannot answer your question but if it was me I would send a personal message to the administrator of the forum (address admin) and ask the question of him. He is a nice guy and will no doubt have a logical answer that maybe you can then share with the rest of us.

I was saying that is what would be the best thing for you to do In My Humble Opinion.

Sorry if I offended you as there was most certainly no intent to do so.

Goodo. No probs.

I'm probably a bit tetchy right now - it's been a long flight and hopefully we will land soon at JFK. Oh how I hate flying in the US. The only redeeming thing about the plane I am on is that it has Broadband, helps to while away the hours! And this is F class - not as well serviced as QF domestic J.

How come so many people on AFF make posts that aggregate into the thousands? I don't seem to have that much spare time.... Just curious.

Some of us have retired. (pick me)
Some of us have lived aviation for 40 plus years, at the front and back end of aircraft. (pick me again)
Some of us are sitting at home on a Saturday night with all their family, ie wife, kids and grand kids and there is only garbage on tele so between times and before going to bed are on AFF. (pick me again) &
Some of us have been on the forum for a lot of years. (pick me again)

Not so sad really :!:

Is it :?:

But is this Forum that old?

So anyway, are you still flying frequently?

For the record, I've been in the air for much of my relatively short life ;) Earlier, I was an expat kid - Dad was an oil industry exec and we moved around ceaselessly. I grew up and soon flew helicopters contracted to the oil industry in many of the places most tourists avoid when I was younger, now I'm soliciting business for the said enterprise. The BP situation is proving lucrative - dare I mention it.

I'm now only, er, somewhere north of 30 and very much loving life!

It really doesn't matter which travel board you read. You just have to get used to to abbreviations and the thought police.Go to TA,FT,TB etc and abbreviations everywhere.I have had posts deleted elsewhere for mentioning the full name of the comedian Tony Hanc***,mentioning my d***y knee etc etc.So AFF is not alone.I usually end up ROTFLMAO and spilling coffee on my laptop.

Re: Qantas FF and Woolworths create new loyalty alliance

Like most on boards, we use a number of techniques to ensure our site remains 'family friendly'. Some are automated others manual. Some of the automated techniques include filtering certain words. the word '****' is one of them. There are very few instances where the word is used legitimacy (the phrase '**** smith' being one if them), hence the 'censorship'

Hope this explains things

We're going slightly OT here with this I know, but I think what people are alluding to is that the general consensus is that '****' is not deemed to be a "bad word".

For those who are unaware, is means Trans Atlantic.
