After years of thought, I have finally talked myself into attending next years Grand Prix in Melbourne.

Having never been before, I was wondering if the AFF forum could provide any hints or tips on attending. Accomodation hints, best grandstand for seating, any special events I should try attend?

Thanks all!

I'm no expert but I enjoyed the Brabham grandstand a couple years ago (which is the last time I went).

Maybe go for the 4 corner package? It would let you see a couple different parts of the track.

I go every year (my company does a corporate box - so i am lucky). Without doubt the best ( and by far the most expensive) is the Paddock Club. If you can get in there you wont be disappointed. If you are after grandstand seating go for one that is in the shade near the first chicane, otherwise you wont see much, the cars are too fast. Some tickets will give you access to the Renault Torque bar at the end of the day which is free booze and good for celebrity spotting if thats your thing. The F1s are a lot quieter but the FA18s are still as noisy so enjoy yourself and will see you there

The Piquet grandstand is very nice. It is also covered, so no issues with rain. I hope you will enjoy the weekend. I've been attending at least one F1 race every year since 1993, but I decided to take a break in 2015, the V6 turbo doesn't do it for me....

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for the replies.

A covered stand would be beneficial to me, as I am one who is prone to sunburn.

Now to get my mates on board and make a long weekend out of it!

One great feature Melbourne have is that I noticed that with a GP ticket, you can ride the tram for free. This would be helpful to many, say you wanted to stay in South Yarra or Richmond or something, it's still easily accessable via the tram system.
