Hi there

A bit of a tricky one for the experts out there.

I need to fly 2 pax on the following general routing in Jan/Feb 2013:

CBR or SYD - JNB
CPT (or JNB if substantially cheaper) - London (preferably, but would consider somewhere else in Western Europe)
ATH or FCO or MXP - BOM or DEL
BOM or DEL to CBR or SYD or BNE

I want to do this for the cheapeast price possible in Y. Airline, alliance, ability to earn points/SC etc not a huge issue but would choose oneworld if two options were the same price.

I have 180k QFF points to burn, but don't necessarily have to use them all (or any) if it is better value to pay cash. My alternative is to redeem the points for domestic flights, which I am fine with and can easily do.

Thoughts?

Maybe not a perfect fit but I would have a look at the Swiss Y RTW (from Bestflights, they are very good to deal with). $2200

We used the Swiss RTW J ticket in Dec/Jan. Swiss are fantastic.

Cheers,
Barrie

If you could get your QFF points up to the 280,000 mark via a few judicious credit card offers etc as well as a couple of onepath insurance offers (each about $110 and taking aobut 6 months to come through) each netting 20k QFF points then you could probably get two OW 140k fares that would allow you to do all that and the taxes would probably only be around the $1000/person???

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You may need to give an idea of how long (roughly) you want in each location.

A +1 to looking at RTW fare options as they may work out cheaper than a series of connecting (mostly) one-way fares.

@ $3917:

SYD-BKK(TG)then BKK-CAI-JNB (Egypt Air) 2/1
JNB-LHR (Virgin Atl) 7/1
FCO-CAI-BOM 14/1 (Egypt Air)
DEL-CAN-SYD (China SOuthern) 21/1

You could look at a fare ex-BKK and use FF points for CBR,SYD to BKK and return.

Ex-BKK it's pricing 81000BHT (~ A$2532).

My other thoughts (which I dont have time to play with routings at the moment but either you can or someone else here can) would be:

- use QFF points to/from BKK
- buy BKK-JNB-BKK
- fly TG (or whoever is cheapest) into LHR and out of FCO/ATH/MXP (ie open jaw into europe) or if open jaw prices badly then into/out of one or the other then purchase a cheap (ryanair etc) between LON and ATH/FCO/MXP)
- use one of TG/indian carrier to/from BOM/DEL ie. BKK-BOM-BKK
back home on QF points fare.

So:
SYD-BKK (QF)
BKK-JNB-BKK (prob TG)
BKK-LHR, FCO/MXP/ATH-BKK(prob TG/whomever)
BKK-BOM/DEL-BKK (prob TG/whomever - AI, Jet, wouldnt risk kingfisher at the moment)
BKK-SYD (other half of QFF ticket).
