We are quick to bag them when they do the "wrong" thing, but they have done the "right" thing this time...kudos to J*:p
Jetstar has been left with a $500,000 bill from its rescue of Australian holidaymakers caught up in Thailand's political unrest.
A chartered Jetstar flight landed at Sydney's International Airport just before 9am (AEST) today, bringing home 200 passengers who had been stranded on the resort island since Friday.
Anti-government protests in Thailand forced the closure of three airports in the country's south, including the popular holiday destination of coughet.
Jetstar has agreed to reimburse travellers for their additional accommodation expenses and costs while they were stuck in Thailand.
The additional costs for the passengers, and the cost of today's special chartered flight, was expected to be about $500,000, a spokesman told AAP.
"We had an obligation to customers and, dealing with difficult conditions, I think we've gone about it in a very professional way.

Good on 'em.

I guess with the way they advertise their services to Thailand...they had to do something like that. They wouldn't want to be seen as "that airline that'll get you to Thailand cheaply, then leave you there if something goes wrong."

;)

Getting them home, and paying hotel bills.. That's pretty good.

Also a very good PR stunt for them.

Qantas has always been good at getting people out of tight spots.. this one always sticks in my mind:

"In 1974 Qantas established a world record for carrying the most passengers when it evacuated 673 people on a 747 flight from Darwin after the city was devastated by Cyclone Tracy. The airline flew out a total of 4925 people."

Well done to Jetstar in this case. Its a pity that when it comes to low profile individual customer issues that they treat customers like myself with poor customer service and almost absoloute disregard for clearly articulated communication from me to them.

I am still yet to resolve some issues regarding my cancelled SYD-KUL that I changed to SYD-HKT after writing two letters to which the responses have not answered any of my questions. There is no potential public relations disaster associated with my problem so I will have to keep being the Squeaky wheel.

A little off topic I know, but stiil related!!
