Also Angus Steakhouse in Fort Lane for some nice steak (google it) and at the other end of the scale, the White Lady, its an Auckland tradition, its been around since I was a young hoon back in the seventies. Its parked at the moment in Commerce street which is off Fort street (bit of a red light area but safe).

Round the corner on Wellesely St W is Tony's Steakhouse and Little Mexico. First two places I head to whenever I'm staying there. As it's name implies, Little Mexico is a great little place that serves fantastic fresh food and great margeuritas. Enjoy!

We ended up going with the first suggestion ima, it was absolutely amazing!! even had a very nice dessert and a delicious shiraz. Thanks again all for your suggestions, I know have a list to try each time I go back
