A truck has been driven into a pedestrian area in Stockholm.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/apr/07/truck-crashes-in-central-stockholm-sweden

At least three people have been killed and eight injured after a truck drove into pedestrians in a busy shopping area of central Stockholm, according to police.
Officers said one person had been arrested and they were treating the incident as terror-related. The prime minister, Stefan Lofven, said everything indicated it was “a terror attack”.
Dreadful news.

Very sad news again.

Much better to cover up the stories and dismiss them as random attacks then we'll all be safe again.

A curious development:

The affected department store, Åhléns, was to re-open on Sunday. They claimed it was to get back to normal trading ASAP - something that many might support.

But it meant that they would have smoke damaged goods for sale - so they said those goods would be on sale at a reduced price.

After a social media backlash they have decided to stay closed for another day and to remove the smoke damaged goods. As some Stockholmer's commented "How would I feel by taking advantage of such a sale?".

Tricky.

Whilst it was a different scenario (deliberate vs accidental) there are parallels with the theme park in Queensland that wanted to open to "get back to normal".

How long is appropriate to wait?

Unfortunately it is tricky due to the increasing intolerance of social media activists.
Prima facie its neither right nor wrong by any moral evaluation. Opinions therefore are significant but because of these activists only one opinion counts.

Just another opportunity for social media bullies to show off their superior moral virtues.

As to the person asking wondering about taking advantage - the answer is simple. "Sir/madam, you may pay full price if that makes you feel better; otherwise naff off.."

IMHO it's important to get back to normal operations as soon as practicable to thwart the concept that such attacks can disrupt normal society.

I agree - straight back into it. I'm sure the good people that do their thing in that Egyptian Church will be doing the very same!

Yes back to normal in defiance but not to live in a fantasy that nothing needs to change because the problem won't go away without significant change.

It's important for everyone's morale to open as soon as possible, especially the staff. You're damned either way with the social media warriors so ignore them.

News today the "offender" had had his right to stay visa cancelled some time ago but had "disappeared".

Sadly the commentary is to continue doing what they are doing. And maybe I suppose hoping for a different result
There is no end. The Palm Sunday bombings in Egypt is shocking.

Innocent people dying in the name of a cause is tragic. Human beings killing human beings is difficult to comprehend.
