ATSB Report into VA-633 (CBR-SYD)

Just finished reading the ATSB report into the incident where a propeller strap wasn’t removed and flew off in flight.

All I can say is wow. I used to frequent this route when I lived in CBR, and had been considering flying Link for some upcoming NTL to CBR & DBO trips. I might rethink it after reading this:
 
Outsourcing...you lose control of all facets of the operation.
In a previous era of my employer, a plan was penciled to bring in contractors to replace internal staff to save xx dollars. In the meeting I advised all the management that safety metrics will trend backwards, incidents will
Increase, essentially as long as everyone was aware that the saving we bank will result in a deteriorating safety score.

I got blank looks from the lot of them.

And yes, they signed up for it, and safety numbers went out the window.
