Article: Live Music in the Qantas Club

To be honest I am a fan of it on a Friday night - when I fly on a Friday night it is to go visit family or friends for the weekend and I have just had a long week at work (and I rarely do work on a Friday night!) , perfect to kick back and listen to the live music with a drink in hand watching the sunset!

Then go to a beachside bar? And leave the lounge for its stated purpose?

If QF want to support live music at SYD, they should get the acts to play in the space which used to house the Qantas Heritage Collection and has been unused for half a decade and add a buffet with some drinks.

Great idea. Or even without the buffet and drinks. The Friday night groovers can sit in the gate lounges there click their fingers and listen to their hearts content.

if the QF clubs were peaceful quiet places then I get the concerns. But the fact is usually they are often. busy and noisy.

I haven’t been to the SYD QP for 3 years but at MEL a couple of weeks ago, Fri afternoon it was crowded and really noisy. In an aggravating way, so a little music could help soothe that. Although TBH I’m not the sort that gives up so wandered to the very far corner at the back of the lounge, past the showers and it was all very peaceful and civilised.

And surely some music has to better than some DYWKIA type having a conference call where you can hear what a hotshot they are 🤣

🤣 If it’s me, it’s my amenity.

Nah, it’s Qantas. They can do whatever they want with their lounges and you’re welcome to avoid. You were whinging about lounges anyway so no great loss to you it would appear.

Got some numbers on that? Qantas supply costs? Anyway, bamboo and paper means deforestation (probably in the 3rd world) - who is thinking of the planet here?

Google is your friend.

I comment not on the ethical merits but it’s well known Qantas support social causes and it’s not always led by economics. It has donated to recent referendums.
