Might we expect to see a VA codeshare on this flight? I redeemed expiring Asia Miles for the QSuite AKL-ADL next February, but I need to get over there and if I can book a through ticket MEL-ADL-AKL that might be preferable to MEL-(BNE/SYD)-ZQN on VA metal then a separate ZQN-AKL on NZ.

There doesn't appear to be a VA codeshare on this route, but you can now redeem Velocity points for a seat. (Shame about the taxes & carrier charges...)

Yeah, that will be because the government taxes flying from NZ to AU are lower.

Yes. You'll still have to pay the full additional cost of the VA reward seat, but you can include it on the same ticket.

Some VA lounges don’t bother opening for their own flights!

Virgin Lounge in Perth closed prior to the redeye departures?

Having a look at the VA website, it says that the Perth lounge in Terminal 1 "opens daily from 60 minutes before first Virgin Australia flight departure until 6pm each day". https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/travel-info/at-the-airport/lounge/domestic/#per Virgin has 3 redeye departures...

But it will be interesting which lounge QR direct non-status J PAX to.

I flew QR915 on Friday and J pax were directed to the Virgin lounge. Check in agent pointed out that this was due to the new partnership with Vrigin

If the QF lounge was open, you’d be able to go to either with a J BP. VA WP/SG in whY limited to the VA lounge (which I might say, I’ve not had a chance to visit since the refurb…).

i haven’t been to the QF lounge in Adelaide by the VA lounge was decent, nice vibe and some good hot food (i refrained from eating but my wife said the soup was delicious)

certainly a lot better then QF J lounge in Melbourne that i was in earlier that day, may have been early school holiday crowd but very difficult to find a seat and food selection was quite poor

Last QF flight departs ADL about a hour before QR915 departs Whereas the last VA flight leaves at the same time as QR915 so perhaps that was it. QR J pax should have entry to either lounge

I would expect that when the Plaza Premium Lounge opens in ADL (as soon as next month?) that will be the nominated lounge, being after passport control. But if wanting a lounge before passport control, J pax and OneWorld elites should still get access QF's domestic lounge, and Velocity elites should be able to access VA's, I'd think?

I did expect that it wouldn’t last forever but still disappointed as it suited us perfectly and was a great way to get to NZ. Looks like it’s back to a stopover in the East both ways now from ADL now to get to NZ which is a bit of a downer

Kind of related. Have you been into the Adelaide Int lounge? Wondering if QR and MH had stumped up for J class and Status passengers.

No, sorry haven’t been in there but last I heard which was admittedly a few weeks ago was that QR have not yet ponied up and I believe SQ is the only airline that has so far
