tb if you are genuine there will not be a problem.

The $5mil threshold does not apply if you can mount a genuine requirement. If you can display travel pattern / requirement to travel / position within company etc it will not be a problem.

The clamp down on APEC is solely designed to weed out the 'tourists' - and so it should be the case - they have no intention to disadvantage genuine frequent business travellers.

Thanks.

Guess I will try to renew. My card expires in October, so better get moving on it.

Any other recent experience of renewal applications?

Thanks,

tb

Any further updates I have a late December expiry
They still do not seem to have launched the "Stage 2" criteria...

I can get a letter from the owner/CEO of a business but it is no means Forbes2000 and I dont believe they have used Austrades services.

Not much help but perhaps a data point:

I applied for a renewal about a month ago, and a few days later received an email and receipt to say that payment had been taken and that initial processing and eligibility assessment would take between 6 - 8 weeks. I have received no further response yet, although I have also been out of the country since then, so there may be a polite letter of rejection waiting at home, or not...

I would suggest supporting your application with letters from / agreements with clients / customers in relevant economies if possible.

I find the card very helpful and have used it three times on this trip, including for a couple of economies in SE Asia and one in South America, saving visa / reciprocity fees and some application hassles, so have my fingers crossed.

May be able to tell you more when back home in a couple of weeks.

Good luck,

tb

I applied under the pre-Nov criteria and my card was approved in 4 weeks. The first 6 economies have now also approved (3 weeks since local approval) and interim card on its way.

Not totally related, but......I lost my card in China a few weeks ago. Luckily I had a photocopy which allowed me to register at hotels and to get out of the country after referral to an immigration supervisor at PVG. The only other real inconvenience was having to line up in the noraml queue at BKK later that week.

My PA reported the card lost and by the time I got home just on a week later, the replacement card had arrived in the mail. I was impressed with the service!

Michael thanks a million for that post - I just never thought of that.

I do have 2 x laminated colour copies of data page from my passport which I always have with me o/s but never thought of copy of APEC card - will get a couple of copies done ASAP.

Again thank you to AFF and the wonderful contributors who make this site a MUST for anybody venturing beyond our shores.

My copy was front and back and in colour. Not sure if that made a difference, but it seems sensible to me.
