Any recent experience with linked SA/QF itinerary - using both VFF and QFF#s?

I'll be travelling soon CPT-JNB (SA J) then JNB-SYD (QF J). Booked through QF on one PNR.

Currently, I only have my QFF details in the system and SYD-JNB leg already flown has posted fine.

A few months back, I went into the SAA website to enter VFF# for CPT-JNB, which I was able to, but it overwrote the QFF details and the itinerary was no longer visible in my QF bookings. So I removed VFF#!

Any recent experience / tips on what to do? I assume at checkin in CPT, I can have VFF details included but will SA be able to issue a QF boarding pass linked to QFF#?

Or should I just leave VFF details out and do a retro claim?

I assume Lounge access in CPT shouldn't be an issue with J ticket and VFF SG Card in hand?

Oh, forgot to ask, but I assume SA will check luggage all the way through to SYD?

TAs can do it as we can easily segment associate the FF number. But I don't think the online airline systems are as flexible. So it can definitely be done you just may need to call. Boarding passes will get issued for both in CPT and bags will be checked all the way through.

Thanks. It's been a while since I've had connecting flights from difference alliances / FF programs on the same PNR.

The good news, I managed to get both numbers in and posted (quickly). The bad news, it wasn't easy.

At checkin, lady said it wasn't possible. She could only do one number - either VA or QF. Suggested we do a claim afterwards.

on our way to lounge, looked at my partners BPs that actually showed VA# on the SA BP and QF# and status on the QF BP. My SA BP was blank but QF was correct.

On arrival at lounge, first agent said it was the wrong code and forced in VS (Virign Atlantic) on both our bookings. Aargh!

looked at QF MMB online and could now see multiple FF#s.

Went back to second lounge angel who corrected VS -> VA but claimed she couldn't put two numbers in and managed to Les the QF details from partners booking (confirmed by seeing no booking on QF MMB and no longer able to update details online!)

I rang QFF from lounge to have QF numbers put back in... Agent said that he couldn't see VA FF details.

Prior to departure from JNB, I wandered down to the departure gate and had QF BPs reissued with QF #s.

Given that QF sell many connections on SA, my suggestion would be to ring QF after booking to see if they can enter VAFF details on any SA sectors.

Othereise, for try at checkin / departure gates (or lounge).
