Had the misfortune to receive notification of a training course in the U.S. at midnight the other day - precisely the same time as the double SC's offer closed. Have to go to Dulles and have a few weeks before I need to book so was wondering if anyone has received a sniff of any upcoming offers to the U.S. (or internationally generally).

Start searching on the Qantas site for prices to the US, then go to their competitors and search the same routes. You pay be able to trigger a targeted 50% bonus SC email - others have reported these coming through after searching for prices but not booking.

Edit: Make sure you are signed into your Qantas account, not using incognito, any ad blocking/tracking extensions disabled (e.g. Ghostery). In this instance, you want Qantas to see you are shopping around :)

Virgin have some specials to the US on at the moment, often QF does similar.

And nice tip above on visibly shopping around. Cookies can work in your favour sometimes

I'm not sure how to disable the disablement of cookies (if that makes sense) - it is probably taken care of by AVG, but I just logged into my QF account as suggested and then searched for flights from MEL to Dulles return, and also searched for the same on VA, AA, Delta, United, Cathay and Singapore - hopefully that has sent the appropriate subtle message to QF to elicit the appropriate targeted 50% bonus SC email - I might get enough SC's before my QFF year ends on April 30 to get back to Gold!

I personally don't really believe the notion that QF monitors "cookies" and then offers you personal, targetted, stuff. But if it makes you feel good, try it :)

Better still (in a very solid way) to just enjoy how airlines have dropped airfares a hell of a lot in the past two years.

US sale on now until 19 March ... various departure dates depending on class of travel.

You would be very surprised about what is currently happening in Qantas in the personalisation space than... especially in the QFF Airline verticals.

VA seem to be much better deals than QF, especillay to LAX return. Looking at Xmas/Jan right now & VA is so much cheaper. Out of BNE only 6 days a week & one of those is an evening departure. Coming home, one flight out of LAX is at midday, getting into BNE 8pm next day.

Am looking to go mid January for 2 weeks & can see $1299 return on VA.

Another option thought about was getting one of those $800 deals on Fiji Airways & upgrading a long haul sector to business class for about $800.

Could only see them for early December at the moment.
