First OS trip back in the saddle hopefully September. Have missed most chance of award travel and pruned all basically apart from a Crystal cruise beginning BCN 1/10.Trying to get reasonable value and flight times not particularly easy but have ended up with TG SYD-BKK for a bit under 3K. Then ITA BKK-FCO-BCN. Chose because one of the few choices using connecting day flights. OK FCO-BCN is at nigh arriving BCN at 23.15 after a 90 minute flight. Also one of the cheapest at ~ 2.5K.
Now I have read the usual reviews which basically say don't go but reading the usual bloggers and reviews of long haul J it sounds like a separate airline.
The switch to star means crediting to Aeroplan or KF whichever has lost the least value by then.
Coming back after the cruise ends in Lisbon had all been booked so no problems with SQ J awards.
So interestd to hear thoughts of anyone who has flown ITA.
