Depending upon what type of Amex points they are you may not be able to transfer them to Qantas.

Thanks for your reply.
I have an option to transfer points to qantas if i join their qantas select.

A little more detail wiull assist you in gaining better advice.

How many points do you have?

What class do you want to fly?

For example...if you wish to fly in Business and have to go in and out of London then putting 750,000 points to SQ to redeem on Thai as a Star Alliance Award will probably offer best value.

However please not that on any program that you will be unlikely to gain 5 seats together in J. So you may need to travel on different flights...or even different airlines to get 5 in J.
With SQ to Europe the max is normally 2. Thai can be more liberal.
In economy the odds of getting 5 are good if you book early.

J is beeter value when bookede via SQ..but note that one cannot get Savers on SQ to London...hence why I suggest Thai.

Am I the only one who has enough respect for others that I actually check my posts for grammer & typos? I even edit them afterwards if I see I have made a mistake.

I know I'm not perfect, but the appalling quality of many posts on this forum is increasingly frustrating.

It takes far too long to make sense of these poorly written posts..

Agreed! Spelling and grammar seem like lost arts these days!

I do the same and sometimes get frustrated as you have indicated also.

However, we shouldn't always assume that English is a posters first language. Its a multilingual world out there (smile).

Whilst not disagreeing with your comments I suggest that maybe your question could/should have been in a separate thread rather than taking up nearly half of this thread with OT comments. :(

However, we shouldn't always assume that English is a posters first language. Its a multilingual world out there (smile). Usually its pretty clear when a poster is speaking in their non native tongue as "it", "so", "as" etc, etc are missing or gender starts entering sentences ("my car she's a beautiful")

Having said that, Firefox, for one, has an inline spell checker which would help everyone, native or non native English speaker.

Thanks for the understanding. I do check grammers & spellings before I post but some mistakes are still not avoidable as a second language speaker, and I don't mind someone pointing out. I also think although some grammer errors in some posts, as long as we can understand, it should not be a big issue, isn't it?

Hi there, We also have Amex points. If you have Amex Gold, you can transfer them to ANY airline. We did a round the world trip in 2008. Found it VERY difficult to use our Qantas points on Qantas itself, however were very happy to get business class bookings on Cathay Pacific & British Airways to London then economy class from USA back to Brisbane. We did the transatlantic crossing on QM2 from Southampton to NY. Used cheap connections within USA then flew economy class LA back to Bne. Hope this gives you some food for thought. Cheers and happy travelling. Muriel

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

KrisFlyer and QFF are similar in taxes and surcharges but with classic awards SQ requires less miles/points.

As suggested it is not going to be easy to get 5 award seats on the same flights so do some research before committing transfers of points to any program and be prepared to travel on separate flights.

I suffer from OCD as well and seek perfection, sometimes editing my posts 2-3 times, but I am far from perfect in grammar and spelling.

That being said I did not think this thread was that bad though....

Muriel,

Welcome to AFF.

Since the QF FF program changes you will not be able to electively transfer to QF unless you have Ascent Premium Amex points which I don't believe the Gold card provides.

I'll be watching this thread ... or please come back and tell us what you arranged.

I've always managed to burn my Amex points w/o doing any great travel. Trying to save them up this time and use them for something fun (= good)!
