Best I've done was get an 'AMEX table' reserved at last minute which had one of the best views, but don't know if that's specifically a GDC thing.

I believe it is, when trying to get a booking in the past I was told by Concierge that all GDC venues agree to reserve a certain number of seats/tables for bookings through Amex Concierge

The Reserve TC would normally appear on the anniversary of opening the Reserve (if eligible) - which probably wouldn't be at the exact same time as the Plat Charge, as you need the Charge to apply for the Reserve.



I asked the Plat Concierge what the point of Global Dining Collection was and they said all it really means is that they've "mystery shopped" the restaurants to make sure they're ones worth recommending to their cardholders. I remember in the past there used to be things like free starters or drinks etc, so hopefully something like that comes back. Yeah tbh i got seveal different answers on this and one agent say follow the website T/C so it says Mar 2021. Dunno if there is any lucky ones can get this TC even if after Mar 21

I actually would have never gotten that Reserve card if it wasn’t for the TC. Which is a poisoned gift anyway as you have to risk a booking with one of the worst travel agencies around (Amex Travel online).

Thats very sad. I share same idea with you. Was trying to contact CS and see if there is another amex card can be as the companion card of plat charge. Due to reserve literally has no difference in points earning or benefits

Actually points earning is lower than the charge card. The only benefit I could see for holding the reserve (without the TC) would be extra Amex cash back offers. Otherwise I see no point in it.

Nah i dont have TC as i got approved for reserve around Jan 2022. But i calculated it is 2.25MR per $ spend now. I reckon is they cut the 400 TC but slightly increased points earning, for the card approved after TC slash date

And yes re amex offer i share same idea with u

You're right. It was previously 2 MR per dollar. I wonder if the rate was increased for those who still have a TC? Not that it matters, I never put anything on it, unless using a cash back offer.

I'll try remember to test it out. Actually, another advantage of the reserve card at the moment is another 40k points extra you can earn with the shop small promo.

Reserve earns 2/$1, even if you have the Plat Charge - so less than the Plat Charge on a per $1 basis.

Each card linked to the same MR account earns at its 'own' rate - so in the same way you can get 3/$1 on some categories with Edge etc into the Ascent Premium account, Reserve is still 2/$1.

Sadly neither my charge nor my reserve had shop small offers...

I haven't opened reserve card yet but they advise it is 2.25 for new cards with no TC.

It’s 2.25 and I had that card for ages so I do get the TC too. Which Shop small promo are you talking about- I can’t remember getting anything along this lines… And as a point addict I’d jump on the chance to earn 40k points

Although there are rare reports of Edge being allowed as a companion, it is very unusual to get anything apart from the Reserve

I will try to get edge. Reserve is just same earning rate and edge is 3pts for supermarkets or fuel

As far as I'm aware it's just the reserve platinum. I've read the odd reports of a few people getting others. When I signed up and enquired I was told just the reserve. I'm happy with it as I get the $400 TC.

I'm pretty sure then they changed the earn rates about 3 or 4 years ago the reserve card was originally 2 MR per dollar spent.

This was the shop small promo Amex put out around April or May last year.
