Another good tip is using Beat the Q

I don't find it difficult to use my Amex at all. Even online it's pretty easy to get around any blocks using PayPal for most merchants.

I agree, PayPal is great and I rarely find places online that don't accept PayPal and if not then I can't recall many Amex surcharges. I will qualify, most are OS merchants.

Talking of PayPal, I just got 2 points per $1 on my VA AMEX for AirBnB.

(I had inadvertently let the charge go through to my bank account. I called PP and asked them to put the charge on AMEX via PP and they complied and gave me a refund to PP. Pretty impressed)

Well done for following up. I'm impressed, nice that they obliged.
