As a VOIP user I find it annoying when companies that I want to call only publish a 1300 number. They probably think they are doing everyone a big favor but in most cases it costs me $0.17 more to call a 1300 number rather than an ordinary geographic number within Australia.

As it turns out, I'm probably the last person on AFF to find out about this website Though I did a search and couldn't find it in another thread. Apologies if it already has been posted somewhere.

Obviously it doesn't have all 1300 numbers in its database but it is a start.

Thanks for the tip/link.

Useful not just for VoIP users - as some mobile phone plans are now charging more for 13 & 18 numbers, than "standard" local calls: And/Or they are not including 13 or 18 numbers within caps or included call levels.

An important reminder for businesses, that their expensive 13 or 18 numbers are becoming less valuable to consumers.

Im in the same boat, I've got an unlimited cap on my blackberry but it doesnt include 1300/1800/13 numbers which irritates the heck out of me as it then costs me money on the landline, not much, but its the principle.

It is not just a hassle for VOIP.

I have a Thai 12Call Sim and tried calling CBA Phone banking on 132221 last week from Thailand but kept getting the message it was an invalid or incomplete number. Tried searching CBA website and all they had was that number and some number for overseas emergencies. What is wrong with also providing an alternative 8 digit Phone banking number?

In the end I had to switch sim cards and then use CBA Netbank in an internet cafe!

The international number is printed (at least on mine) on the back of the cards...

I do not have cards just transaction accounts.

I did find that number but it does say for emergency use only and I was only wanting to make 6-7 BPAYs so not sure that would have been treated as emergency. Plus the hassle of having to go through the operator in Thailand for collect calls.

Also for home - I have a flat rate monthly package that includes all local, STD calls and Mobiles within Australia - but 13xx_x, 1300xx_xx and 1800 xx_xx_ are charged additonal.
