Hi,

I've booked to go BNE-LHR on 20th March using AA advantage points. I wanted to change the routing from AKL to LHR, but can't see any award availability. Is this because the AKL -AUS route is operated by VA or Air NZ? Any advice?
Thanks

There should be no problem adding a QF flight from AKL to BNE and then changing over to your EY flight from BNE to LHR.
I have travelled on mixed QF and EY bookings recently using AA points with ease.
By changing your itinerary though you will be most likely whacked with an AAdvantage change fee ($150 from memory) but still cheaper than paying for your flight to BNE.

but is still the same amount of points ? i.e 75,000 . AA advantage is 75k points from South pacific to Europe so in theory I should be able to do AKL -LHR for the same amount of points as BNE -LHR.

Absolutely, same amount of points from NZ to UK as Aus to UK. Not sure where you got the 75k from as AA South Pacific to Europe is 60k in J or 80k in F.
The problem is that if you have already made the booking and it has been ticketed then AA will charge you the change fee but there should be no problem in finding a J award seat on QF from AKL ( even though it is only a 737 with reclining J seats) to add to your existing booking.

It's 75k with Etihad. as they charge you two separate awards. BNE -AUH then AUH-LHR . I'll call AA tomorrow to see if they will make the change for me. Thanks

Forgot about EY needing 2 x Awards to Europe - your figures are correct via AUH
