Arriving Mumbai and need to transfer to Oberoi Hotel about 25km south of airport.
Hotel wants $136 one way and online services are around $40-60. Ubers and taxis are cheaper again but we did the super-cheap Uber in Delhi before Covid and it was terrifying.
Anyone know of reliable company with reasonable prices AND safe drivers!!?
Happy to pay, to not die but assume the hotel will be sending a Merc at those prices ???
This post was prompted by a dear friend who lived in India for 2 years, 30 years ago.
On hearing about my trip he recalled his transport experiences.
Prior to embarking, he would negotiate a price - say 500 rupees. He would then hold up another 500 rupee note and tell the driver, "This extra 500 is yours, if you don't overtake on blind corners and if you don't exceed the speed limit by more than 20, etc etc.
You guessed it....
He NEVER paid up.
