Hello.
I have redeemed some Singapore Krisflyer points for a business class SFO>AKL>SYD flight.

Firstly, is there any way I can select my own seats online? Or, is the only option calling Air NZ?

Secondly, reading through various posts and looking at both seatguru and seat expert, it appears the favoured seats are those in the nose of the plane. Do you agree/disagree? Can anyone recommend a seat?

Thank you,
pw.

I think you can select award seats on some *A airlines, but you have to ascertain the correct reservation number for that airline. The reservation number on the SQ itinerary is pretty useless as it is only for their own system, not the carrier you will be flying.

I booked a TG flight via KF points, and then rang TG to ask them for my booking number so i could select my seats online. It bore no resemblance to the SQ reservation number - they found the TG one based on my name.

Having said that, I am not sure if you can manage a KF award booking online with Air NZ. Their website says:

If you are not an Airpoints member you can retrieve a booking to view and manage your itinerary online if the booking was made with Air New Zealand through our website, over the telephone or in one of our Travelcentres.

Whichever way you retrieve your booking, you will see range of options depending on the booking type. These may include requesting a copy of your electronic ticket, requesting seats, and cancelling your booking.

Please note - not all bookings are able to be accessed online.

I guess all you can do is call them, ask for the reservation number and give it a try.

Good luck.

you just need the NZ confirmation number and you can use the NZ website. It works just fine for BMI redemptions on NZ.

Find out the NZ record locator, by putting your record locator into checkmytrip.com or mytripandmore.com...

Then you can use the airnewzealand site.

I didn't think CMT would work as that is based on Amadeus?

I've done redemption on KF miles for NZ C. You just need to call up AirNZ reservations, tell them your flight details (ie flight number/date etc), then they will find out your reservation, and then you can ask to select seats. It is that easy.

Thanks eveyone.

I called AirNZ and they told me my reservation number. They also offered to email my itinerary through to me.

The woman offered to help me with seat selection over the phone or via the Air NZ site.

Good to see everything went well. AirNZ staff are very easy to deal with. I am sure you will enjoy your trip.

With Alliance Redemptions I don't think you can pre-select which seat.

The great thing aout this forum is that you learn something new every day ;)

I have a booking for 5 J Melb to coughet via Bangkok on Thai booked via SQ and so rang up Thai today.

Initially there was a hiccup as eviently the on-line system only caters for bookings of up to 5 and so initially they suggested I ring SQ back to see if they would split the booking. He also said that it would only work within 24hours of flying.

However after a bit of banter they gave me the 5 seats across Row 14. The Boeing 777 -300 has a 2-3-2 configuration and so that suits us well. :)
