somehow I got an email from a travel industry club.

Industry is being offered things like $499 + taxes of around $200 return to LAX

Virgin Australia - Virgin Australia Industry Rates to LAX from $499*


Guess they've got to fill aircraft somehow. Better to fill them with loss leaders than lose even more money

plus $135 each way, so around $935 return in low season, thats about normal,
nothing special about these prices at all - maybe $50 cheaoer

only $499 + $195 for MEL/LAX/MEL unless you choose to go on dates when $135 extra. Total $694. Approx $3 for BNE & approx $10 for SYD.

Have been seeing lots of cheap fares to USA as am on many airlines email list, but nothing under $799. Plus gather the $799s are very restricted, whereas the industry fares aren't so restricted.
