Airfares cheaper than the transport to the airport

What airport town combo where the transport was more expensive than the airfare?
Depends on the airfare. The recent Rex/VA sales on the MEL-SYD route saw JQ drop its price to $30. An airport train (SYD) and a Skybus (MEL) on the ends of the flight would be more than the fare.

Yes, I had a £10 fare to Oslo on FR and it cost far more than that to get out to STN.
I think my best one was a €5 flight from Strasbourg to STN...train to the airport in France was €2.20, then the Stansted express....twice as much as the plane and train that preceded it, combined!

Yep, Oslo is one that comes to mind. My train ticket to the airport was nearly double the cost of my €9.99 Wizz Air flight.

But did you pay for the fancy Airport Express train or take the local train which is about 5 minutes or less slower but also costs about 50% less? :)

During my time living in DRW, the JQ flight to DPS was always cheaper than the cab to the airport.

Edit: and on one occasion was still cheaper even after adding the bundle to get SC.
