This afternoon I was standing on the apron at Mt Hagen (PNG) when I heard an alarmingly loud thrust of a PX 717's turbines and turned to see it banking sharply to port off the runway. It crossed directly over my head at an altitude of about 50m off the deck at full noise!

After giving the pacemaker a tweak northward, a glance up the runway revealed the problem..... A light plane only just then lifting off!

This time I'm guessing it will be investigated as I happened to standing next to a CASA PNG man, who couldn't get his phone out of his strides quick enough (the fact that he had possibly just coughped himself may have made it slippery ).
