have a few trips across the pond coming up (SYD-AKL). My preference would be to select the 777-200/300 only flights eg NZ118

Premium Y doesnt seem to be bookable with transtasman.

how do I ensure I receive premium Y seat on the 777? Not a member with airpoints but with velocity.

Does this mean I'm only left with standard Y seats, even if i book the highest works+deluxe bundle.

What status do you have with Velocity?

Works (for Gold/Platinum/elite) or works deluxe is the only way to to access these seats on booking T-T travel.

Thanks, Serfty. I'm Velocity platinum - is it possible to access the PE seats when booking a Virgin flight on an NZ codeshare widebody, or do I have to book using the AirNZ code?

Also, does Velocity platinum automatically have the ability to choose PE seats?

If I'm flying with my family, will the other family members also be able to access PE seating, or will all PAX end up in standard seats?

Finally, is there any way of seeing availability of the PE seats before booking?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm pretty used to the QF way of doing things, time to suss-out DJ/NZ...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

For what it's worth, I'm sitting in BNE ANZ lounge ATM, waiting for my flight on the new 773.

Other than a two hour delay in the departure of the flight, I had a breeze of a check in, given 23D (first row of the PE cabin, without even a hint of her mentioning it) and a decent enough lounge with free pour spirits :p

AIRNZ ftw!

Is that the new 773 " All Black" livery aircraft ?

Indeed it was the All Black aircraft and can I saw WOW.

I was SERIOUSLY impressed by the service, the staff and the aircraft - so much so that my trip to LAX in August was booked then and there on NZ - not to mention I got a killer price - $2486 in Y+!!

I had a very similar experience as well. Just completed a trip (BNE/AKL/LAX/AKL/BNE) on the 777-300 and I am extremely impressed with their service and product. I may rate them even better than SQ with who I mostly fly.

The spaceseats on the ANZ is fantastic. I did not see anyone in PE having problems with lack of space etc.

even the toilets on the 773's are massive - Its pretty much twice the size of a normal toilet.

I booked AKL-NAN (B772) yesterday. DJ Plat + Works = PE seat. Unsure if it was just plat + seat what I would get at checkin.

Unfortunately no lounge access as Pac Island flights are excluded :(

I booked a VA saver fare to fly OOL - AKL (on NZ metal) for a certain degustory event occuuring this weekend. VA premium desk couldn't help me with seat selection. Air NZ was not able to help, but said show up early and ask for a good seat! Air NZ said cheap fare = pot luck with seats, even with VA WP.

So much for repriocity.

To be fair (and somebody please correct me if wrong), but from what I've read online even their own status customers don't get seat selection on a cheap fare.

I booked a Works fare for this weekend because of this (also for the gastronomic adventures). Slotted straight into the front row of economy (bulkhead) with my VA WP number in the booking. The Works fare still ended up cheaper than QF anyway :)

Chastened!

I really should find something "real" to whinge about!
