Air Austral ends SYD services in March

As reported on Airlineroute.net, Air Austral have decided to up stumps:

Odd saw something the other day promoting this route. Which I think is half the problem because outside of airline type circles I've heard nothing about flying to RUN or CDG on air austral

Air Austral has staged a remarkable u-turn and will retain its Sydney services.
The French carrier announced in December that it was withdrawing its Reunion-Sydney-Noumea services with the last flight due to depart Sydney on March 20.
It blamed the economic climate and rising fuel costs for the decision.
But its board has now decided to retain the flights with confirmation expected today.
Air Austral began flying to Australia in 2009 but has seen poor load factors.

I trust the source but don't expect the airline to continue much longer - it is not like the performance on the route is suddenly going to turnaround. Even if it isnt suspended in March, I wouldnt book beyond that.
