Agoda - ineligible booking

Hey everyone - I made a booking through the velocity-Agoda link no problems. I made the booking under my name // using my FF...however it was my partner who was staying.

Is this then ineligible for velocity points? I thought it would still be as I made the booking under my name. Velocity retro claims is telling me otherwise.

Wanted to clarify here before chasing it further (or not chasing)

I thought I read in the terms and conditions somewhere the Velocity member has to be staying at hotel.

One way around it is to make booking in your name and include your partner in booking with a note that your partner will check in without you. I have done this many times with my wife.

From a commercial standpoint, the Agoda/Velocity relationship works something like this:

Velocity member goes through a particular link to book on Agoda. Any booking, regardless of name, or Velocity member or not - will be attributed to Velocity and Velocity will receive commission once the stay is completed.

In this sense, it doesn't matter who stays as Velocity still makes a few bucks, which they pass on to the member as points, essentially splitting the inducement to incentivize more bookings to be made through their link.

There will be some degree of auditing done each month which may include Agoda sending a list of names which the booking was completed under. Velocity will likely cross-reference this lists of surnames with the Velocity member ID# and the original booking to ensure all 3 match. This creates a perfect accounting attribution model for Velocity.

On this occasion, it was only my partner staying. I made the booking under my account and used the "booking for another person" tick box. I'm a plat so made the booking this way so I would get the 100% bonus.

Do you know where the t&cs are located? All I could find on the velocity site were fairly vague ones.

Do you think then I am ineligible for the claim?

Under the latest T&Cs it is now under section 10:

10.1.3 Except as provided elsewhere in the Terms and Conditions, Points may be credited only to the Membership Account of the Member who has acquired the eligible goods or services, entered into the eligible transaction or taken the eligible flight.
