In early Jan, I fly ADL-LAX. Its a points booking, so was not as easy to get what I wanted!!!
On Sun Jan 6 I fly ADL-MEL arriving 9.35pm, then fly MEL-SYD on Mon Jan 7 departing 0700 which means I have an overnight in MEL. The whole booking is on one PNR, so is it likely they will check the bags through to LAX in ADL, or will I need to collect in MEL and resubmit them on the Mon morning?
I'm planning on sleeping at the airport as I have a problem with the cost of a hotel for the limited time I'm there, plus I can catch up on lost sleep on the flight to LAX from SYD.
What do you think the chances are that the bags will be checked through? And yes, I do have to have checked bags, can't be done with carry on.

My gut feeling is no but I could be wrong, not something I've looked into recently.

Best bet is to call QF directly to see clarification.

Your bags will only be checked from ADL to MEL so you will need to collect them Sunday night then recheck the following morning MEL/SYD/LAX.
