Adelaide Airport Drop Off Area

I am in Adelaide next week; is the downstairs pick up area the same or has that moved too?

I have been picking-up or dropping-off half a dozen or so times this week and as of Friday the situation is.

If you pass through the main doors after baggage collection you will see the way through the current construction activities to the new pick-up and set-down area located under the multi-floor car park.

The red oval shows the vehicle way in and start of the zone but it practically extends nearly the full length of the new car park.

I have assumed you have luggage to collect but if only carry-on you can walk across the bridge (the white banana shaped thing) from the top deck (arrivals) of the terminal and catch the lift down to the pick-up point.

As a regular commuter in and out of Adelaide, I'd have to label the new drop off and pick up area as an epic failure of design. Effectively they have merged what previously were separate drop off and pick up lanes into a single area, where all taxi drop offs compete with public drop offs as well as public pick ups. The congestion getting in and out is now significantly worse than before and it's hard to see how it can get any better as traveller numbers continue to grow.

I have just got back from ADL, and as Adel_Traveller says the new area is cr@p. I think the stretch of curb is less than either of the old drop off or collection areas. And we had the joy of walking through a construction site to get to the terminal. Perhaps they have studied at the same traffic management school as MEL!
