Acquiring (buying) Velocity points

Out of interest, does anyone know some alternative to ways to acquire (ie pay) for points, outside of credit cards?

I’m planning ahead for some Velocity redemptions, and I’m 40-50k points short and don’t want to take out any more credit cards.

I’ve seen YakPay has an accelerator option which amounts to $0.02/point, but am curious if there are any others to keep the radar that are a bit cheaper?

There’s obviously other pathways like insurance sign-ons, wine etc, but wondering if anyone knows any other “paths” to effectively buy points (that don’t risk losing all points, such as buying them off someone else) that are closer to $0.01/ point?

I know this goes against the very nature of some ppl on this forum who hold different valuations for points, but sometimes you’ve got a hole to plug and want to snap up rewards before they go!

Thanks

No way you're going to get that number of points at anything near 1c/pt unless you're willing to sign up for something significant (a credit card, a loan, a bunch of insurance products, etc).

Just buy them off VA. You will probably pay around 0.025 per point as I don’t think there is a special on currently or you can wait for one of those special periods to start.

OzB Classifieds has plenty of sellers offering 1-1.2 cpp. They were a steal during Covid when some were selling them as low as 0.5cpp. I topped up one of my throw away VFF accounts during this time and continue to draw down on it nowadays.

Of course buying points in this manner is in violation of the VFF T&Cs and does come with some risk, so it depends how motivated the OP is.

Take advantage of Flybuy’s bonuses that align with your existing spend patterns, so essentially they are zero cost for points or close to the $0.01 per dollar arising from fees…….
Flybuys often give spend $50/month for 4 weeks months for 10,000 points (5,000 velocity points/month)
Coles often sell their $100 pre-paid Mastercards with bonus points. Only catch is the purchase fee for the card ($5 or so), which makes the points close to the $0.01 figure - since you will use the card to pay bills you already were going to pay (so no real cost for the card amount, just the fee)
