Accor status benefits when booked through alternative site?

I had a booking in Morocco n a Fairmont Hotel last December via a tour operator (congress operator). I did not expect anything. I got a better room than the rest of the group (why are you in the top floor). I did not care about free drinks (as we had a congress package). The trip showed up (coorectly) in my account with 0 Points and 0 Nights. I did never give them my number. They must have pulled it by my name and birthdate.

So in the end:
Statusbenefits: Yes (maybe)
Points/Nights: No

Unless you are booking the hotel as a package, if you are just looking to book the hotel, you could book direct with Accor first and submit a ticket for Best Price Guarantee.

Done this once when I found a price cheaper than the Accor website, they price beat + 25% off.

But reading some other comments online seems like Best Price Guarantee is a luck of a draw. Many people got rejected, so read the T&Cs carefully.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Stays booked through a reseller, tour operator or third-party online travel agency (such as Expedia.com, booking.com, etc.) are not considered Eligible Stays and do not earn Points or Eligible Nights towards a Status level.
Dumb question - does this also include Qantas Hotels? Found a sweet deal for using Amex on QF Hotels, spend $500/more, in or more txns and receive $100 cashback.

Yes, despite the partnership it’s treated the same.

But that AMEX promos run through to July, so maybe some other stays - one off hotel brands or places that don’t have your usual chains?

That's sad ...

yea, that's right. Will use it on a few hotels not part of any chains in the coming months. I do have some personal travel to do, so better used there than for official travel.

Yep.

When I was booking hotel in Chicago for a stay last August it was significantly cheaper to book via QF Hotels (and get lots of bonus points from points club) than direct with Accor.

Accor wouldn't price match, so I didn't earn ALL points/nights or get a welcome drink but decided $900 saving was more valuable (and with the resort fee I got US$15 credit per day to spend at bar/restaurant anyway).

But when I used to travel for work and book via the online corporate travel agent portal I always used to get my ALL points and benefits.

Crazy how they are always encouraging you to book direct for the best rate but then wont price match other resellers of their rooms.
