Been researching Hotel Loyalty Programs and was considering Accor (My mum seems to enjoy it but please recommend another if it would be better). I was wondering if anyone had a decent benefit code or knows of a promo going at the moment?

Thanks.

No promotion etc codes, sorry. Best to look for a credit card that offers instant high status. AMEX Plat Charge Card used to offer Accor Plat, but they recently ended it.

Accor pros: Their hotel brands (Ibis, Novotel, Sofitel etc) are pretty consistent around the world. Once you have been in one or two, you know pretty well what the next one will be like, no matter where it is. Ibis are the cheapies, but again, you know that it'll be clean, compact and no problems for one or two nights. With Plat status, they do look after you with decent upgrades etc etc. Gold is a bit hit-and-miss. You can get some great deals with the higher-end brands like Sofitel.

Cons: Possibly the worst web site of any major chain. Absolutely hopeless and their application isn't much better. Phone help abysmal. Weak in Nth America.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks for the response. After some research I've actually decided to go IHG and pay $200 USD for the Ambassador status. I figured with the free weekend night that almost covers it alone and according to others, the 5000 points you get equates to almost another night so I haven't really 'lost out'.

Fair enough. But if you already haven't made the application, and need a Charge Card (or even if you don't need one :) , have a look at applying for the AMEX Plat Charge Card. This thread is in 'Referrals' and the links may be a bit out of date but have a look at the benefits listed in the first couple of posts, especially status awarded for multiple hotel chains. Again, Accor now out of this.

The hotel status (-es) aren't the top ones, but usually next-to-top, so you aren't limited to the one chain.

Its expensive, but if you use the benefits (ie flights, stays, lotsa points up-front, club memberships etc), then its quite a good deal. If it interests you at all, have a trawl through the AMEX forum.

Accor is what it is, reasonable price for a room in plenty of locations worldwide with benefits that are good value when they appear - the 2000 pts for 40 euro value is pretty good. Le Club is good when it works but the worst programme bar none when things go wrong, like don't even both trying to fix something, just move on.

AMEX Platinum Charge card no longer offers ACCOR Plus/Platinum status, benefit was replaced by Hilton Gold since May.
