I decided to plump for a business class flight for the leg BNE-SYD (travelling as a dosmetic pax), and am wondering if I will be able to access the international business lounge at BNE as that's the terminal it will be going from? First time flying business so a bit excited...

My fat fingers strike again...yes QF8. This is good news, might be a good day to check in early...

Haha you'd think that but working in the mines means it's a normal wake up time anyway :)

Note that security screening and immigration does not open until 5am, though I have been left waiting at the top of the escalator until around 5:15am on some occasions. So no point in checking in much before 5am. Obviously the lounge does not open until after immigration processing has commenced.

Ok, still should give me a nice amount of time to sit around and have a decent breakfast with a glass of sparkling wine perhaps...

I believe I get to guest someone in too, do they need to leave when I do or once they are in, they can stay as long as they like (assuming they have a QF flight that day of course)

Just be careful it is the first flight of the day that leaves from the international terminal. So you won't be able to go too early. The flight is schedule to leave at 6:30am. The lounge opens at 5am.

QF8 leaves at 7.45am and I'll be in the Int. lounge anyway, so shouldn't be too much of an issue.

The lounge may nominally open at 5am, but immigration and security screening is often not open until well after 5am.

Lucky I'm good at standing in lines .
They don't open the access from the check-in level down the escalator to the departure level. So you will be held at the top of the escalator and unlikely to a line formed, just a few bleery-eyed early check-ins and often the cabin crew for the flight milling around waiting for them to open the doors.

Should be in good company. I'll be able to guest someone in to the lounge too if they are flying on QF metal from the terminal won't I? Don't have to be on the same flight?

I am afraid that unless you are a QFF Gold, Platinum or Platinum One member... you can not guest someone into the Lounge on your Business Class ticket.. Unless of course they are flying in Business too!

Even though I'm flying a domestic business flight, the international business lounge rules apply?

You may also be forgetting QP members from that as well.

As far as Qantas is concerned, its an international flight. You just happen to be travelling on the international flight as a domestic passenger. Lounge access is all as per an international flight.
