Access to VA Lounge when not flying VA ?

Presuming you're referring to a recent flight (ie post-demise of ATA), you just walked in after your flight?

That's what I did into MEL 2 days ago. There was nobody at the card reader (have never seen anyone actually) so walked up scanned my mobile BP and in I went!

Yes. Gold and above have arrivals access.

Correct. Walk in, tap the reader, add one guest.

i routinely use the lounge for a pit stop before leaving the airport, just walk in, scan my card, tap plus 1 and off i go,,,, never seen anyone look at the reader or stand near it.

Bumping an old thread - I think I've read on another thread (that I can't find) that even though I'm not travelling, I can guest a VA pax with a same day boarding pass into the lounge? Can anyone advise the rules please?

I can recall that being mentioned here, but I've had no experience with it. I think the talk was that the member had to present a BP for a flight that day....no mention of it being the members BP. Of course that'd mean it's open to abuse, just waltz up to someone in the VA terminal and ask if they want lounge access whilst the member flys QF :shock:. There's been plenty of times of late that I could have tried it, but I don't see that as playing by the rules. Picking up a family member from the airport though, would be classed entirely differently in my book of rules!

I bellieve the rules are you need to be travelling.

That's not to say you won't have access. Ask nicely and they may grant you access.

Have done this about a year ago at Cooly.

Girl friend was travelling and I was not. Asked at check in if this was possible and they said yes.

Went to lounge and checked again if was ok, and from memory they were more than welcoming.

Staff at OOL lounge are the best in the country (others may dispute). When I was gold they would let me take 2 guests in regularly.

I worked with a gold flyer a few years ago in Canberra who would nip out to the airport for lunch in the lounge every day. Knew all the staff by name. And I thought I was cheap!

That would have been when there was Anytime Access, and I guess your gold flyer colleague may be one of the reasons it was revoked
