Travelling back from Rome to Syd, I am in J all the way but beloved Husband is in Y (unless there is a miracle upgrade, flight is full) to Singapore and then rejoins me in J for the flight home. I am Virgin Plat but we are both only basic Kris Flyers, will he be allowed in the lounge in Rome?

Hard to know isn't it? I found this Virgin Australia clarifies access for Singapore Airlines lounges - Flights | hotels | frequent flyer | business class - Australian Business Traveller but then I'm assuming Rome will will be a partner or contract lounge which won't allow.

When I'm travelling J I usually just ask very politely if I can bring in a visitor. This has been twice successful for me on departure from Brisbane. Hasn't worked (for me) at SilverKris. I doubt it would work at a partner lounge but worth a try.

thanks Alby, might just ask the Virgin rep since they have been saying they are looking at increasing SIA codeshare improvements.... i'd hate to leave him outside since he was so kind to tell me to take the last J seat.

The rules would suggest that you can, although I have no experience of this.

If you are a Virgin Platinum travelling on a Singapore Airlines marketed and operated flight the following rule would apply.

Lounge Access with Velocity Membership | Velocity Frequent Flyer

Singapore Airlines
SilverKris Lounges worldwide, outside of Singapore^^
You and a guest on presentation of membership card and boarding pass for same day departure on Singapore Airlines operated flights.

Terms and Conditions
Lounge access is only available when traveling on services marketed and operated by Virgin Australia and/or the relevant Velocity airline partner identified above. When travelling on codeshare services marketed by an airline partner but operated by carriers which are not Velocity airline partners as identified above, lounge access is not available.
...
^^Entry is not permitted when travelling on SilkAir operated flights.

This implies that you would have access although the Rome lounge is not an SQ lounge... It is a contract lounge and certainly not anything to write home about. The "Le Anfore Business Class Lounge", which is near to Boarding Gate 11 in the Satellite Terminal (Airside). From memory SQ usually/always depart the Satellite terminal.

It may be worth asking the check-in desk to write you a lounge invitation, rather than fumbling around at the lounge itself.
