Hi all,

Please excuse the naivety of this question, as I am new to all of this.

I have a flight coming up which is booked as one journey but requires changing planes in Brisbane. The connection time is only 40 minutes which seemed fine when I booked it, but now I am thinking about the fact they start boarding 30 mins out, there isn't much room for error.

I have bought the ticket as a red-e-deal. If the initial journey is running late and I miss my connection, will Qantas rebook me or do I lose my fare?

Also, is there a way to look up the on-time performance for a particular route?

Thanks,

JJ

As you are booked on one ticket QF are responsible for getting you to your destination if you miss your connection due to your flight being delayed.

As for checking on time performance, I simply type my flight number into google and check either flightaware or flightradar24

BNEd is not all that huge, and QF has got one main apron, and the smaller one downstairs that is used by QFlink.
30 mins is ok to transfer between 2 domestic flights.
You can have a look at BNE airport website for a map so at the least, you have an idea of where to go.
If your flights are not QFlink, its a possibility that all you have to do is go to the other side of the circle that the 737s arrive into and depart from.
Ontime performance, yes, there are ways to check on that, as replied by above colleague.
At the least BNEd is not like MEL where you might have to go through domestic security screening at T3 between the 2 different wings that VA uses! **This might have changed that system by now**.
BNEd has grouped all airline in the one alliance on one side, and the other alliance on the far other side, if both are in OW, its easy to go from one gate to the next.

40min meets MCT. QF domestic boarding of narrowbody aircraft is a standard 20min prior to departure. It's entirely possible that your inbound aircraft is the same as the outbound, so will be at the same gate and no issues at all.

Even if you're flying in on a QFLink aircraft/fligt (eg: QF1400+) connecting to a mainline aircraft where there's greater chance of a misconnect, QF will protect through ticket connections onto the next departure no matter the fare class. Yes, it's a short connection, but it's probably not a huge deal. I've certainly had a tight one going CNS-BNE-MEL arriving at like gate 17 and going out of 22 or 23 which involved a 5 or so minute walk to the next aircraft.

The more pressing concern may be any checked bags (see a recent thread about a TSV-BNE-MEL connection and checked bag not making it) but QF would still deliver it as it's their responsibility

Chances are, no issues at all.
