Hello All,

I'm not normally someone who posts a lot on online forums, but this one has been particularly good to me so thought i would finally say hello.

I'm not a big flyer, so the purpose i read the forums is for information on credit cards and rewards programs.

Since the age of 18 i had 1 credit card which i used for everything and it had a basic rewards program. That's what i used for about 13 years with very little return.

September 2015 is when things started to change. It's when i changed credit card, and started to see the value in frequent flyer points and sign on bonuses. Since then between my wife and I we have had more credit cards than i would like to admit. The reason i can say September 15th is i need a spreadsheet just to keep track of all the cards, when i received them so i knew when to cancel.

While i don't have exact numbers, i am guessing between us we have collected around 1.7 million points between Velocity/Qantas/AMEX.

The first time i used the points was for a Cathay Pacific Business Class flight between Singapore and Hong Kong. I was travelling with my wife and 3 kids (1 of them being an infant). Strangely, there was business class availability for 4, but not economy. We got to enjoy the Business class lounge in HK, and the flight. As someone who had only flown economy before, it was an experience we really enjoyed.

June/July this year we are flying to Europe and back, but unfortunately in Economy. The 5 of us, flying Singapore Airlines in Economy using points. Not great value in points, but without them we wouldn't be able to afford to go.

Right now i have 3 credit cards which i use. Citibank Signature (Free for life) for the places that don't accept AMEX, and then 2 Amex cards. Platinum Edge for all supermarket shops, and Explorer for everything else. I try and purchase gift cards at supermarkets to get the higher 3 points per dollar.

Anyway.. I think i have rambled on about myself way to much. Love the game of the points, so always happy to offer assistance or opinions to anyone that asks.
