Apologies if this has already been posted, but I have just stepped off an AA flght RIC-DFW where I had carefully chosen 6A because of FEBO and it being an odd-numbered flight.

Contrary to expectation, I was not offered first meal choice. When I queried with the (lovely) FA, she said the system had just changed. No more FEBO.

Order of meal service is now based on travel direction:

S-E flights: F-B

N-W flights: B-F.

It appears a 'diagonal' flight like RIC-DFW is considered heading S, not W.

Methinks this will cause some confusion:rolleyes:.

I'm about to board an even-numbered flight to SFO and I'm in 1A. According to this new system, it looks like I won't get first choice again :(.

You can pre-select your main (aka entree) on-line, I thought? I'd cast aside any concerns about FEBO once that became available.

On the even-numbered DFW-SFO flight, they served from the front even though it was a W (and somewhat N) flight.

Could be a shambolic 'enhancement'.

Just remember that FEBO was (/is) about the sequence that they "take" the main meal order, not the sequence that they "deliver" it: Many FAs always serve from the front to the back, regardless of flight number, because they have previously "taken" the meal orders in line with the FEBO direction.

Correct; my use of 'serve' was ambiguous.

On the odd-numbered RIC-DFW flight she took the orders from the front and when she got to me in 6A said that only one main meal type remained.

That's when I asked about FEBO and she said it had recently been superseded by the direction method (and showed me the section in their instruction sheets.)

Reserve Your Entrée Before You Fly

It's been around a couple of years now. You'll need your AA reference number (which you can get from CheckMyTrip) to get your reservation up on the AA website.

I've utilised it for the last couple of AONE4's I've done, which have both been ticketed thru QF, so that's pleasingly not an issue.
