Just doing some tweaking to my DONE4 to the US and europe and thinking about flying direct HKG-JFK (yes a shock to you all I know). Checking out the CX availability it came up with the following oddities:

AA(CX) 6090
HKG 08/03/08 9:45 AM
JFK 08/03/08 12:10 PM

773

J7 D0 I0 Y7 B7 V7 M7 L7 K7 H7 S7 Q7 N7 O7

CX 830
HKG 08/03/08 9:45 AM
JFK 08/03/08 12:10 PM

773
F4 A0 J9 C9 D9 I0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9

CX 840
HKG 08/03/08 7:00 PM
JFK 08/03/08 9:25 PM

773
F4 A2 J9 C9 D9 I0 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M2 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0

AA(CX) 6086
HKG 08/03/08 7:00 PM
JFK 08/03/08 9:25 PM

773
J7 D3 I0 Y7 B7 V0 M7 L0 K7 H7 S0 Q0 N0 O0

CX 888
HKG 08/03/08 3:05 PM
JFK 08/03/08 8:00 PM

744

F3 A1 J9 C9 D9 I9 Y9 B9 H6 K9 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0

AA(CX) 6124

HKG 08/03/08 3:05 PM
JFK 08/03/08 8:00 PM

744
F3 A0 J7 D7 I4 Y7 B7 V0 M0 L0 K7 H2 S0 Q0 N0 O0

So I am assuming that the AA codeshares are on the CX aircraft. I have no issue with carriers restricting availability differently but it just seems weird that they are missing an entire class?

This is not unusual. This happened all the time with J class on BA and QF codeshares on the Kangaroo route when the BA and QF products were different (NCW vs Dreamtime seats). And QF did not sell WT+ seats on BA operated codeshares.

Yup, I had noticed that AA doesn't codeshare in 1st on that route however fortunately it makes little odds AAdvantage earning wise unless on a Challenge

It isn't that rare; e.g. BA used to not codeshare on QF business class once they had NCW until QF upgraded to skybeds

Interesting. I can see that on the Kangaroo route - but weird on the HKG-JFK route where AA are not competing - unless they are trying to force people to go HKG-NRT-JFK...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Could be that the HKG-US route is v lucrative and since CX only has 6 F suites in the 777 , that they can happily sell them all themselves and do not want to share them out
