:( Purchased AA return flights LA to Las Vegas last year for wife and me quoting our QF numbers but not credited with points and again this year purchased flights from JFK to MIA and return and again no points. Did the "Claim missing points" on Qantas website and came back a few days later showing the flights in the Activity with 0 showing as points. Can anyone tell me why Qantas do not recognize flights on partner airlines for points please?

Not all booking classes with AA credit points or SC's. If your booking class was N or Q you will not receive points.

Do you know what booking class your flights were in?

The most likely scenario is that you purchased a cheap discount fare that does not qualify to earn Qantas FF points. The Qantas web site lists the different types for partner airlines that earn Qantas FF points. If the fare type is not shown then it is one that does not qualify for QFF points. Those include Q, O and E fares.

That table looks like its for earning AAdvantage miles when flying on QF flights. I interpret the OP's question as being about earning QFF points when flying on AA flights.

So do I, in which case here are the relevant earning codes.

As posted it may have been an ineligible booking class.

See the table at the end of this post - if the class is not listed than it will not earn with Qantas Frequent Flyer:

...
Check the listed booking classes for earning. The eligible booking classes (for SC earn) are as follows. (If the booking class is not listed here, then it will not earn with QFF.):
First Class:P, A & F
Business class:I, D & J
Economy/Premium Economy:W, Y
Discount Economy:B, H, K, G, L, M, N, S & V

Indeed, and note the omission of O, Q and E booking classes, which means they earn NOTHING for QFF members when flying on AA flights. So I expect the OP has purchased one of those non-earning fares and hence why they have not earned any QFF points.

;) Thanks Fantic125 for you quick response. Yes Q class, probably because the Y fares were very cheap, just over $400 AUD for both of us JFK/MIA return. I forget what the LAX/Las Vegas fares cost.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

You may be able to get credit for AAdvantage (although little enough for LAX/LAS).

Call qantas and get them to completely remove all transactions from your FF account concerning the Q class travel. Once done, put in a claim to AA using your AAdvantage number (if you don't have one - it's free to join).

Be quick on this, at the very least there a time limit on how far back dated travel can be put onto a new AAcount.

I am just about to book HNL - FLL (Feb/March) on AA.com.au, or Expedia.com.au looks as though the booking codes on the Expedia site are N & O....should I bother then to use our QFF numbers or use the AA advantage numbers we have but balance is currently 0 points...not sure I would ever use the AA again though.

Also Re costs found it more expensive on the AA.com site than AA.com.au.....

:D I became an AA AAdvantage member on line which really does nothing for you other than accumulate their points but as you indicate you are not likely to use them again and even if you did you would need many AA flights to gain sufficient points to utilise

There are a few other ways to get AA points not least of which via purchasing them.

If you had QF Silver status or better, then there would still be value in applying the QFF number to the booking as it would entitle you to free checked baggage allowance, even if not qualifying for SC/Points earning.

Do any of you see any problems/advantages booking with AA.com.au or Expedia.com.au both have the same price. Priceline.com also have the flights with the return flight slight more expensive but duration one hour shorter, cannot see that flight with aa.com.au or expedia...any issues with booking with Priceline ? Want to do this afternoon if possible
