I am travelling tomorrow on JQ SYD-HNL. I have AA EXP, but this is the first time I will be travelling without any QF status. I have a nasty feeling that I will have no lounge access at all, in either the FC or BC lounges? Am I right.

On a related note, I am then connecting thru to Barcelona as follows:

16/1 AA HNL-DFW
17/1 AA DFW-JFK
17/1 AA JFK-BCN
(all connecting)

I know that you get Admirals lounge access if you have a same day international flight. DFW and JFK won't be a problem, but I guess that means that I have no access to the Admirals Club in HNL the day before? Or has anybody had any luck in gaining access, in cases where the flights are connecting?

Thanks

Although technically you are not entitles lounge access for your JQ departure, many people have reported that QF will allow lounge access for JQ passengers based on OneWorld status as a courtesy. So certainly ask at the QF lounge and see what they say.

A few questions before proper answers can be formulated:
  • Is your travel all on the one Booking?
  • Are you travelling on the JQ3 flight number or QF
  • Is it a same day arrival and departure to/from HNL?

If you have a Platinum Amex Charge they have just added AA lounges to the list, i know its for an AA flight but you never know... do you have a connecting AA flight by any chance ?

Edit: after re-reading i see you do have an AA flight, prehaps the better question would have been do you have a Platinum Amex Charge card.

Serfty:
1. The JQ flight is a separate ticket.
2. jq3
3. yes.

And no, I don't have an Amex charge card.

As to part one of my original question, QF009 is going to try and host me into the SYD lounge tomorrow, so that part is okay.

FWIW:
SYD-HNL is a JQ ticket
HNL----BCN----HNL is a AA ticket ($US$1350) that I was able to upgrade to J & F
HNL-Australia is the last 2 legs of an old AA ticket , nearly expired, that would otherwise have gone to waste

All up, around A$2000 to Europe return, mostly in J....

1&2 make it harder for access in HNL, 3 improves your chances.

In reality, you can only ask (nicely) - they are quiet friendly at the morphing HNL QP / A/C and do understand JQi.

As an update, no problems accessing SYD Int First lounge even though I had a Jetstar boarding pass - got past both checkpoints with out problems (bumped into QF009 in any event, and had a very enjoyable lunch)

Also, no problems with the AA/QF lounge in HNL (where they hide the wine out the back...)
