AA (Aussie) website won't complete my booking

I've just tried booking a flight with AA on their Aussie site twice. Each time I have put in my credit card details and then get the same error message (it's a copy and paste as a screen dump is refusing to paste).........




The following error(s) occured

  • The fare for the flights you have selected is no longer available.

    Please contact Reservations for assistance with making a new booking and quote “xx_xx_X”.

    American Airlines apologises for any inconvenience this may have caused. (xx_xx_X)
The second attempt at booking gave me a slightly higher fare of about $20 more. Any ideas on why it's refusing to book? Maybe AA are telling me to go to the Red Bull air race instead of Niagara Falls????

I am geussing the fare bucket for the original booking was emptied before you could finalize.
 
The odd thing was putting the same routing, dates, etc. on the US version of the site, came up with *much* more expensive fares...
 
I suspect that maybe the cached value of availability is being used to quote the fare but when amadeus tries to confirm with sabre for actual availability it is getting refused as no longer available

This would also explain why the US site is quoting higher fares upfront since it will be getting current availability when offering fares, (though since there are some fares that are only available for sale ex Australia that may be a red herring )
 
There's also the possibility that the AA Au site is quoting a fare that doesn't price out. Wouldn't be the first time it has some weird quirks etc.
 
I spoke to AA today and the gentleman told me that someone must have booked the last of that fare class just as I wanted to book it. He tried to do it and offered to waive his booking fee but the fare had leapt to about AU$500. It was about AU$300 yesterday.

Now the dilema. Do I stick with AA or book on Jet Blue who can get me there for about US$100?

You know what I think. I'd be going Jet Blue, especially for that price.
 
i notice the OP was yesterday but today I had a few issues pulling up a booking on the AA .us site - the AA .au site was fine for some strange reason.

$500 vs $100 for a domestic flight in USA would be a no-brainer to me. There is nothing special about AA over B6

AA have been having a lot of problems with their Aussie website this past week - last weekend a mate tried to book a flight from SFO to JFK on August 2 to join me on the flight (booked through QF on a code share as part of flight from Aust), but the site came up with various errors on numerous tries over a couple of days, including invalid e-mail address and invalid credit card details, both of which were valid. I witnessed a number of these attempts.

Mate called AA on Tuesday and was told that they were having IT issues! No kidding! Agent booked ticket - assume call fee was waived, given website issues, but not sure. Agent did not say when these issues were expected to be fixed.
