Dubai-Sydney flight grounded in Perth - The West Australian

A medical emergency has grounded a Sydney-bound Emirates A380 this morning, with the flight forced to land at Perth.

I wonder if they mean diverted to Perth? When I see grounded I understand that to mean it is there and not going anywhere until the problem is rectified.

Hope the PAX makes a speedy recovery.

I think it was technically grounded - as the staff ran out of hours. I wonder who the lucky 40 pax were who got offloaded and put onto domestic flights to SYD - J and F one would assume!

My nieces were on that A380 but weren't lucky enough to be one of the forty. I believe Emirates had to fly crew in from the east because of the staffing hours - there had to be specifically-trained A380 crew on board, or so they were told. Being stuck in Perth airport for so many hours certainly wasn't the highlight of their overseas trip!
