It looks like QF503 BNE to SYD will be serviced by a 787-9 Monday week. Not sure if this is a common occurrence but as far as wide bodies go I've only ever seen the odd A330 on this route.

Looking forward to trying PE for the first time though!

Actually, there are a few other 787 positioning flights scheduled around those Antarctica charters as well:

30 November 2024 - QF556 SYD 2135 - BNE 2205
2 December 2024 - QF503 BNE 0520 - SYD 0755

31 December 2024 - QF453 SYD 1345 - MEL 1520
1 January 2025 - QF428 MEL 0915 - SYD 1040

8 February 2025 - QF655 SYD 1950 - PER 2140
9 February 2025 - QF656 PER 2330 - SYD 0640+1

15 February 2025 - QF556 SYD 2135 - BNE 2205
17 February 2025 - QF503 BNE 0520 - SYD 0755

Happy booking ;)
It’s positioning from a charter so whilst probably not common will be nice for you for a change. I’m less excited about taking QF656 on Sunday in PE on an overnight but figured it can’t be worse then 737 J which I do often.

Thanks, I was wondering where it was coming from. Normally I'd take this as an opportunity for an easy upgrade to a lie-flat - but having not flown any PE before I'm keen to try that, which will be like a free 737 upgrade minus catering anyway.
