Flying to Vancouver in Feb 2011. 777 is SYD>AKL>SFO>VYR and 747 is SYD>AKL>VYR. I want to fly J and not sure which plane. I prefer not to go through the US but would do it if the 777 was worth it compared to 747.
Any help appreciated.

Well the NZ 744's are being replaced over the next few years with new 772's.

If you go the 772 you may get one of the new models with revised seat (better bedding basically).

Or fly Upper deck on the 744 for nostalgia's sake.

Sarge are you looking at exclusively ANZ?

I have flown both, more room in 747, however the 777-200ER was not too shabby either. Do you like seats or coffins?

If on 777 request 1B, you get the window view from across the aisle.

Great service however the IFE was somewhat pedestrian.

Hope this helps.

If you can get in the front cabin on the 747 (rows 1-7) then I'd definitely take that over the 777.... which only has one big C cabin...

Access is usually available to Star Golds IIRC....not just NZ elites....
