747 2 class J seat question

Hi gang,

I've seen several people suggest that 4E and 4F are great seats. Given Ill be travel with the better half, I'd imagine this is even more so.

Couple of questions. Is the proximity to the galley/toilets bothersome? It will be a night flight, with a morning landing into Tokyo.

What is it that people like about these seats so much? Anyone have any pictures of the cabin they might care to share?

Otherwise, other than the obvious row 16 upstairs, what else might be worth considering. Currently in row 3.

The advantage of row 4 is if the aircraft gets subbed you'll get F seats (J service).

Personally I like row 16 > row 4.

Another question. Do the window seats in the nose section (lower deck) have similar bins to the ones on the upper deck?
 
The A Zone is a great place to sit on the two class aircraft. You may want to consider the A/B or J/K seats so one of you gets a window.

The advantage over the upper deck is that there is less foot traffic and you exit quickly on landing. If you are coming from upstairs you get stuck waiting for Y passengers to exit.

Upper deck is also quieter IMHO
 
Have done BNE/LAX/DFW/BNE with wife in refurbed upper J on 747, was excellent, note exit seats have a lot less storage (side bin).

Plane very full, had no problems exiting.
 
Enough to be an issue though? Other thoughts on the exit row seats upstairs? Preference for port or starboard side?

The 16A exit seat on the only 2 class 744 Qantas are operating has reasonable side storage space somewhat more than the 16K seat.
 
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but row 16 being exit on the upper deck implies non-refurbished markI sky-beds?

The last time I used 2-class 747 upper deck was in Nov 2011 in J.

FAs were standing across the Y aisles to block their exiting until all J pax had disembarked.

So, no issue with 'competing for exit' with Y there at all

With L1 door, the A & B zone PAX generally get out before anyone else - this includes those in the 26 zone B economy seats.

The task of holding back Y pax is not easy due to the stairs to the upper-deck coming down several rows back from the front of the economy cabin.
